The Northbridge tunnel has an emergency traffic warning system – and it works!
Driving home on Friday after work, I was enjoying the amazing guitar talents of John Mayer on CD. But I saw these lit up signs in the tunnel saying, “Turn On Radio”. And so I did. Nothing unusual – normal FM radio station, but every 1 minute or so, there was an announcement by a seriously bored sounding, monotonous male voice advising motorists about the Freeway crash and traffic hold up.
What a cool device to takeover all the radio waves at once. Imagine what pranks could be had (though I’m sure with serious consequences!)
With the launch of digital radio last week, I wonder if it works on digital stations too?
